Toddler Kimono Sweater Knitting Pattern

Toddler Kimono Sweater Beginner Knitting Pattern
Knitting a sweater (even ones for little kids) is time consuming and often complicated. This kimono style sweater is so easy to knit because it's all one piece! There's no sleeve shaping or sewing a bunch of pieces together, and since it closes with ties there's no button hole shaping or sewing zippers in (yay!) This unisex sweater is sized for a 2- 2 1/2 year old (see measurements below)
Knitting Pattern
Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick & Quick (2 skeins)
Size 13 knitting needles
Finished sweater measures 24" across chest and 14" from top of shoulder to hem
Gauge: 2 sts= 1 inch
(Note: Kimono is knit in one piece starting at the back hem)

Cast on 28 sts. Work in K1, P1 ribbing for 1 1/2 rows. Work in Stockinette stitch  for 8 inches from beg, end with a Wrong Side row.

Right Front Slip sts for Right Front from stitch holder to needle. Starting with a WS row, work as for Left Front reversing shaping.

Crochet 2 12" ties on the inside- one under the arm and the other of the side. This will keep the inside flap in place when the sweater is closed.

Crochet 2 12" ties on the outside- one under the arm and the other on the side to close.
